Driving

We left Bristol at 8:30am, and spent most of the day driving north. Up the M5 through Birmingham, M6 to Manchester, then snaking between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales and up through dry-stone-walled sheep pastures and rolling limestone hills to Glasgow. Our progress was marked by the placename poetry of the signposts:
